A turnabout is a two-sided cookie jar. The jar has a two-sides head and a two-sides body, allowing for different combinations to display the cookie jar. Leeds Disney Turnabout Cookie Jars of Mickey / Minnie and Dumbo Circa 1940s-1950sDecorative cookie jars first appeared in the American Kitchen as early as 1920 and then became very popular after WWII. With this increased popularity of decorative cookie jars and the rise of Disney, the Leeds China Co of Chicago combined the two concepts and was licensed to distribute Disney character cookie jars from the 1940s to 1950s. They were not always high quality and used a cold-paint process (painted on top of the finished glaze); so today, they often have paint loss, chips, and crazing. The Mickey / Minnie Mouse turnabout cookie jar has two characters in one (depending on which side is displayed). In the first post here, we learned about the Federal Trade Commission Website, and and now we will explore Trademarkia and TESS (Trademark Electronic Search System).
This will take me to a listing of companies that have used (registered) this name. Sometimes there are pictures to help you identify the correct entry; sometimes you just have to read the info and/or click on each listing to review the information. My search brings up board games, clothing, pocket sandwiches, popcorn, and more. Three pages total. I see a company that sells clothing, but they sell "namely Tee Shirts." My shirt does not fit that description, so I continue on to page two where I find a company that is a better match for my fashion blouse. Here is the close up for continue reading. . .
